My name is Heather.

I’m the artist behind Heather Leigh Artistry. I’m so glad you have found my website. Take a look around to see my art, and the places where my art will be displayed or available for purchase.

I’ve been creative all my life. Early on I would satisfy that creativity by guiding children through art in many different areas. I was a volunteer at my kids’ elementary school, a Girl Scout Leader, a daycare provider, and a Sunday School teacher. All of these roles were places where I could help children express themselves through arts, crafts, and creative play.

Once my children grew, and I closed my daycare, I soon realized that I was missing that creativity that was always a part of my life. However, I now had the extra time to pursue the art that was of particular interest to me. I had always been drawn to abstract art and color studies.

My work is inspired by the interplay of color and movement—by the tension between freedom and control. Through fluid acrylics, I explore both, inviting the viewer to decide where they find freedom and where they sense control.

I found fluid art on YouTube, first with Molly Leach of Molly’s Artistry, and from there the flood gates opened to a wonderful community of artists that I now proudly call many of them my friends. Fluid art sparked my creativity, and filled the missing place where creativity had always lived. Now that I wasn’t sharing my creativity with the children in my home and community, I could create for my soul and soon after, I realized I still needed to share. This was a vital part of who I am. One of my favorite places is where I’m displaying my art and answering questions and talking with curious patrons.

Now I’ve been creating and selling for a couple of years, and my next big venture is teaching again, but now, teaching art to any age that is interested.

Please see the “where to find me” section for all the details on my fluid art classes being offered at Market Street Creatives indoor vendor market, opening soon in Torrington, CT, the town my family now calls home.
